Another Kasilof River king salmon in the net!

The Kasilof River is located 12 miles south of Soldotna, Alaska and is a drift-boat-only river. The Kasilof River is about half the size of the Kenai River with average depths of 4 to 6 feet. The first run of king salmon enter the Kasilof River in early May, peaking the beginning of June comprising of both wild and hatchery salmon. You’ll enjoy multiple hook-ups with king salmon ranging from 15 to 30 pounds, with an occasional 40 to 70 pound fish. The second run of king salmon begins late June and peaks around the third week in July. During the second run the fishing is exceptionally exciting with opportunities of landing 50 to 60 pound Alaskan king salmon! During May 15 - July 1 anglers are allowed to keep two salmon every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

With the Kenai River being closed to guided fishing Sunday and Monday, the Kasilof River gives opportunity to king salmon fishing May through the end of July. Fishing the Kasilof River is steadily becoming the first choice among anglers choosing to fight the mighty king salmon, due to less crowding than the Kenai River and as of late, a much more productive fishery.
